Joseph Brevard and Edward Shoucair founded Planners Collaborative in 1990. From the beginning, Joe and Ed sought to integrate communications with their technical work. They recognized that clients benefit from understanding the needs of their constituents better and public processes improve project outcomes. The firm’s early transportation work for the Federal Railroad Administration led to work on the Federal Transit Administration’s Livable Communities Initiative. Solid performance by the firm led to opportunities in communications projects for transportation clients, including the Bus Rapid Transit brochure. Current work for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation combines many of the firm’s strengths including website design and management, civic engagement, and documentation.
